Imagine…
Waiting for your loved one to return home. But they never do. What questions run through your head? Now, imagine you’re being held in prison, surviving torture, for three years before even being accused of a crime. What feelings overwhelm you? Three years later you get a trial…but it’s in a group of 900.
There are over 72,000 innocent people being detained, tortured, and killed in prison, all in the name of “ending gang violence.” Salvadorans are forcefully disappeared while their loved ones form camps outside prisons to find them.
But They Are Not Alone…
I am a proud board member of Cristosal, the leading human rights organization in El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras. We accompany victims as they transform into empowered survivors, learning and fighting for their human rights. We record and report crimes against humanities. We offer legal services, trainings, and emotional support. We build public awareness and are often the only voice speaking against the Bukele dictatorship. As I embark on this commitment to serve, I invite you to join me!
